In remembrance (site change)
Don Delfin -- father of Moses, Don and Josh Delfin -- passed away on March 1. Mr. Delfin's remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held Thursday, March 16, at 5 p.m. at Calvary Chapel-Vista, 885 E. Vista Way, Vista (phone 760-726-4224). Burial will be at a later date at Fort Rosecrans cemetary, Point Loma. Moses, Don and Josh Delfin contibuted much to the San Diego wrestling community, and any moral support shown to them, and to their mother, by the individual members of the San Diego wrestling community would be greatly appreciated.

The Mustangs recorded their first-ever win in school history against Mar Vista by taking advantage of pins from 152 to 275 pounds on Feb. 2. Otay Ranch gave up pins at 125, 130 and 135 pounds. Mar Vista did not wrestle either Alan Matos or Joe Martinez, the team's two standout starters while the Mustangs did not start Shawn Shaw.

(Granite Hills wins tie-breaker, most wins)
Jan. 26, 2006 -- Trailing 32-17 with three weight classes in the dual, Steele Canyon rallied with three consecutive victories to force a 32-32 tie, only to lose the tie-breaker on most wins.Kellen Dion jump-started the Cougars' rally with a pin, followed by a pin by 152-pounder J.B. Graff to bring Steele Canyon to within 32-29 on the scoreboard. Garret Estevane completed the comeback with a 6-1 decision at 160 pounds, giving each team 32 points. The Cougars finished with three pins, one victory by forfeit and one technical fall. Granite Hills totaled two pins, two major decisions and one double overtime win. Dion trailed 10-1 in his 145-pound match before engineering a comeback pin in the final seconds. Other Steele Canyon winners included Caleb Cardenas (pin at 112), Kenny McCormick (forfeit at 119) and Matt Norton (15-0 win at 215).
